Breaking Radio Silence

Sorry for the unusually long absence from blogging (yeah, as if anybody is actually reading this). I didn’t mean to absent myself from the blog for two weeks. But I had planned that my next post would be a fairly detailed description of our 3DoG game at ConsimWorld Expo, but between a lot of this and some of that, I never found a sufficient chunk of time in which to write it up. Fortunately, I took notes, so I will be able to jog my memory. And I will find the time to write soon.

As to what I mean exactly by “a lot of this and some of that,” well, I don’t want to say too much, because I still have this weird feeling that a jinx is possible. And I’ll probably feel that way right up until the first check clears. But if you want a hint, it’s in the changes that I just made to my profile.

And of course, I spent a day with Ken Tee playing The Halls of Montezuma; true to the title of this blog, we realized fairly late in the game that we’d been making a serious mistake in tracking victory points. But that’s another matter (and anyway, the important thing is that I won).

I have missed blogging in the two weeks that I’ve been away. It’s been about three months since I started this blog, and the exercise has been good for me. Writing, I have found over the years, is like any form of vigorous physical activity: If you stop doing it regularly, the muscles go slack and the memory of how to use them fades. Blogging restored my vitality. I feel like a writer again.
