The Crochet of Cthulhu

One of the pleasures of working for the Weekend Warrior at the  Strategicon conventions is seeing Davina Baker’s hand-knit dice bags (or dice cozies, as I call them), which she sells at the booth. Of course, it’s also a pleasure seeing Davina herself, as well as her husband Tim and the various friends they bring to the con. But her dice cozies always seem to stand out, because they really do have love in every stitch.

Of course, when you use the phrase “love in every stitch” to describe something like this:

... Well, the mind does boggle.

Davina just passed along some photos of a Cthulhu-pattern dice cozy that she made for a friend (I’m not going to post all of them because I don’t know how many SAN points you have left). I’m not sure that you get the full effect from a 2-D photo, because the the yarn tentacles protrude from the surface of the bag and dangle off of the bottom edge. But you get the idea.

If you’re coming to Gamex in May, be sure to drop by the booth. I’m sure Davina will have her usual selection of dice cozies, including many that won’t drive you mad at the very sight of them.
