Time Traveling With The Weekend Warrior Game Company

I'm still packing for my trip to Las Vegas, from whence I will proceed to San Jose and Silicon Valley Comic Con, but real quick, I want to put up a sign post pointing to The Weekend Warrior Game Company's Facebook page, where my friend Ken Fonarow has been posting photos from his long history of collecting and trading core hobby market games.

Ken has been a fixture of the gaming scene in Southern California for decades, having at one time owned the Strategicon conventions and having sold in the dealers room under the Weekend Warrior brand for longer than that. He also ran the game auction at both Origins and Gen Con for a while. He literally made headlines a handful of years ago for selling most of his collection to Troll & Toad, the big Kentucky-based online game seller, for a tidy six-figure sum — and promptly started building his collection back up.

In sum, Ken knows the secondary market for core hobby market games better than anyone else in my acquaintance. He is a walking trove of the history of our weird and wonderful hobby. If you'd like to soak up some of that history, wander over to Facebook and catch him while he's in a reflective mood.
